How does Solution Focused Hypnotherapy work?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works because it relies on our ability to be able to solve our own problems in the right environment. Change has long been recognised as something people find difficult to do. Further more If change is imposed on us then we could find it causes us anxiety.
We can make logical decisions, make the right choice or say the right thing when we are calm and focused. The decision could be a different if we are experiencing stress, anxiety or depression.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy and trance are combined and it has its foundations in brain research. We understand how change can be achieved and we use researched strategies. This helps people make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time.
The focus is on what the client wants to achieve rather than on the problem that encouraged them to seek change. Cathy focuses the sessions in such a way that we look for solutions by using a series of technical questions. Above all the sessions are lighthearted and fun, its all part of the therapy.
The therapy focuses on the present and future and not on the past. Cathy asks the client to consider their preferred future, for instance, what would be better if the problem had improved? What would have changed? This enables the client’s possible solutions to become more apparent.
Hypnosis itself reduces anxiety and this is done simply through a combination of relaxation and visualisation. A shift in perspective occurs when the client focuses on the positive aspects of their lives.
